Organization validation: your company, checked

The authority confirms that your organization exists in a public registry and that the domain belongs to it. The checked company name goes inside the certificate, where anyone who opens it can read it.

What this level means

What gets checked

Your organization in a public registry, the address on file, and the domain's connection to it. A person at the authority does this, not a script.

What a visitor sees

The same padlock, and your checked company name when they open the certificate details.

When it is worth it

A shop, a client portal, anything where a visitor types in details and a partner may ask whose certificate it is.

SSL questions

What will the authority need from me?

Whatever it cannot find on its own: usually a registry entry it can look up, a phone number it can verify from a public source, and someone who answers it. We go through the list with you before the order.

Does OV encrypt better than DV?

No. The encryption is identical. OV adds a company name that somebody checked.

Not sure which certificate you need?

Tell us the domain and what it has to satisfy — a payment provider, an audit, a client's checklist — and we will say which level is enough.
